WHAT TO EXPECT FROM REDDO’s FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Crisis and Early Intervention

Reddo provides crisis and early intervention support to prevent escalation and improve long-term outcomes for children. Our services enhance family life, help children develop essential skills for adulthood, and protect them from harm. A key objective is to reduce the need for referrals to child protection services.

Bespoke Support Packages

We offer tailored care packages for children and young people with complex needs. Working closely with social services and caregivers, we assess and develop personalised care plans. We also provide signposting to other specialist services when necessary.
Many of the children and young people accessing our services have complex health needs requiring intensive support and interventions beyond the usual expectations of their carers. Some families may also require respite care, and we design packages accordingly.

Foster Care Placement Support

Once a care plan is in place, a child may be placed in foster care. The transition and ongoing care can be physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging. Foster carers may also require respite. Reddo provides essential support to ensure the child’s care and well-being are maintained, even when the primary foster carer is unavailable.

Parenting Assessment Assistant

Reddo supports social workers in conducting Parenting Assessments during the PAMs process. Our trained Family Support Workers (FSWs) facilitate parent sessions to address specific parenting concerns or challenges, such as establishing routines. These sessions take place over an agreed period, and a detailed report is submitted upon completion.

Welfare Checks

Our Welfare Check service includes both announced and unannounced visits by our trained Family Support Workers. These visits assess the welfare and well-being of vulnerable children at home following referrals from social services. The FSW records observations and reports any safeguarding concerns to the relevant authorities immediately.

Custody Welfare Visits

Custody Welfare Visits ensure the well-being of young people detained in custody. Our FSWs check that their basic needs—such as food, drinks, and blankets—are met. They also provide reassurance, complete a welfare checklist, and report any safeguarding concerns to social services without delay.

Contact Supervision

Reddo supervises contact between children and family members with whom they no longer reside. This service is essential when a child has experienced harm or is at risk.
Referrals from social services specify who can attend the contact sessions and where they will take place (e.g., a contact centre or a community location). Our supervised contact service ensures the physical safety and emotional well-being of the child while promoting positive family relationships. If safeguarding concerns arise, our FSWs will immediately terminate the session for the child’s safety.

Transport (Including Secure Vehicles)

We provide transport assistance for various needs, such as taking children to school, new placements, or contact sessions. Unlike a standard taxi service, our drivers are experienced Family Support Workers. For high-risk cases, we use secure vehicles with protective screens and an additional FSW in the back to support the young person.

Mentoring

Our experienced Family Support Workers provide mentoring support tailored to a child’s individual needs. We address diverse challenges, including gang affiliation, mental and emotional well-being, self-harm, eating disorders, and suicide ideation. We also support children with special educational needs, helping them develop life skills such as personal hygiene, budgeting, and shopping to promote independent living.

A CASE STUDY: THE IMPACT OF OUR WORK

Who we supported:

Supporting a young person with an eating disorder back to regular eating habits.

The issues we faced:

Reddo CIC were commissioned to support a young teenage girl who had previously been hospitalised with anorexia and her father was a single parent struggling to help her eat.

How we helped:

Our staff, used their skillsets to encourage her to start to eat, at all meal times. They engaged her by talking and building positivity around every meals. The young girl showed amazing progress and went from drinking shakes to eating solid food. This ultimately to successfully helping her make her own meals.
